In this continuing series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it’s always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time out we take a look at the 1991 Oscar nominees, which came down to a very divisive and controversial race between Martin Scorsese’s GOODFELLAS and Kevin Costner’s DANCES WITH WOLVES, as well as the Robin Williams/Robert De Niro drama AWAKENINGS, the Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore supernatural romantic thriller GHOST, and Francis Ford Coppola’s final and least-loved of the Godfather films, THE GODFATHER: PART III. Check out the retrospective below and let us know your favorites!

1990 must have been a weak ass year if Ghost was nominated for best picture.

Besides Goodfellas and Godfather Part III, my favorites of the year were
    Arachnophobia and Die Hard 2.
